..as Utang Akwa Ibom gets approval for 10,000 Entertainers Rally!
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has given his blessings to the forthcoming ‘Entertainers Show Your PVC March’ scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
The governor made the pronouncement in Uyo when he met with his Special Assistant on Entertainment Industry, Mr David Sargeant popularly known as Utang Akwa Ibom.
While briefing his boss, Mr Sergeant stated that he is set to lead a 10,000 Man March in Solidarity, rising from a meeting with stakeholders in the industry where they unanimously agreed to endorse and support him for a second term in office.
In a chat with journalists after the meeting with the Governor at Ibom Hall, Utang said the entertainers are expected to march in their numbers waving their PVC, reassuring the governor of their unalloyed support in the forthcoming general election come 2019.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7am from Ibom Plaza & terminate at the Governor's lodge off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.
The Akwa Ibom State Entertainment Working Committee, (EWC) had resolved earlier in the week to stage a solidarity rally in honour of Governor Udom in appreciation of the support entertainers in the state has enjoyed under his administration.
The rally, which is a follow up to the membership validation excercise conducted by Utang Akwa Ibom to create a database for the industry, will feature thousands of stakeholders and practitioners, musicians, both gospel and secular, dancers, comedians, actors, directors, entertainment journalists, artiste managers, marketers, show promoters, DJs, pageantry Kings & Queens.
It is also fixed to reaffirm the participation of the entertainers in the ongoing Permanent Voter Registration exercise which ends on August 17, 2018.
Governor Udom confirmed his presence to receive practitioners in the entertainment industry, in view of addressing issues concerning the sector and how it can be repositioned for exploits.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, gospel musician cum Special Assistant to Governor on Project Monitoring, Godfada Uko and Akwa Ibom State Actors Guild Chairman, Emmanuel Owuala.
